About me:

I am an artist, art instructor & yoga teacher.  My mission is to help others find joyful freedom through art, creativity and movement.

I have been painting and dabbling in the creative process since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I was born in Nakusp, BC, and moved to Vancouver in my late teens. I have had a diverse range of art practices over the years. Professionally trained as a fashion designer, my career has evolved from textiles to site specific installations, socially engaged art, mosaic, mixed media and painting.

Artist Statement:

I paint in the moment, yielding to the process where each painting is derived from the intuitive. This allows it to be free from expectations, removing boundaries and preconceptions.  I am working towards a gritty beauty in this series, drawn towards a raw, energetic, tumultuous expression.  Each painting is a journey with stops and starts, a story of self-reflection, a study of colour and texture.

Abstract Expressionism - An exploration in colour and texture

My paintings are "gallery wrapped" which means that the canvas edges are wrapped around the stretcher and secured with staples at the back, this way the painting can be hung without a frame. The edges are painted in an extension of the painting. You can of course frame the painting if you wish, but it isn't necessary. All paintings are finished with 2 coats of gloss varnish to protect and enhance the colours.
